Truffle hunting in the forest
What is it?
Truffle hunting in the wild forest sometimes could be hard but that’s a nice way to discover some beautiful part of Tuscany. I have gained permission and truffle hunting license from Tuscan state , and we are fully insured as trekking licensed guide (GAE), for these outdoor activities.
In contrast with the farm truffle hunting, the wild truffle trekking could take place in heavily canopied mediterrean forests.
What do you need?
Participants should be prepared for cool, wet or warm weather and bring gear and footwear appropriate for tramping through wet, uneven, and occasionally slippery terrain. Rubberized gardening style gloves are highly recommended — truffle gathering means the opportunity to work your hands in our rich and fertile soils. If you don’t have gloves, we will be happy to provide them.
I organize some of this trekking in the forest around two ancient hamlets placed not far away from our farm. This trekking normally takes 2 hours and we could connect with the castle tour and some food tasting in the place. I also organize this truffle hunting into the national park of Foreste Casentinesi a natural park not far away from Arezzo.
